Keisha, Andy’s girlfriend, is a beautiful girl who is well-liked because of her outgoing personality and sarcastic sense-of-humor. Keisha is very caring toward Andy throughout the novel. Andy goes through an emotional roller-coaster and brings Keisha on the ride with him. Instead of becoming angry for his actions toward her, she comforts him. At the end of the novel, Keisha and Andy break up because Keisha can no longer handle Andy’s moodiness. However, Keisha still cares for Andy but understands that Andy needs time to cope with the accident before entering a relationship. Overall, Keisha is a smart girl with a lot of compassion for others.

B.J Carson is a straight-edged senior that hangs out with a group of basketball players, Rob, Andy, Tyrone, and Gerald. B.J doesn’t play on the team because he is too short. B.J sticks out as the spiritual glue that keeps their friendship together during the difficult times following Rob’s death. He sometimes gets pushed aside because he is more introverted than the other guys, yet his kind heart for others allows him to stick out. His friends respect him for his faith and his perseverance against drinking. Soon after Rob’s death, B.J is praying and taking fault for the accident. Although he is angry, his faith helps him get through the troubled times. B.J would like to be a minister someday.
